If you have a Windows Vista Operating System:
Handheld devices ( also called Scanners )
usage with Vista require Windows Mobile Device Center to be installed. This
utility is available on the Microsoft website
here.
Choose the version of the utility that matches your Vista Operating System (32-bit or 64-bit).
This utility is not included in a normal Vista installation, it has to be added
afterwards.
After completing the Mobile Device Center installation a reboot may be required.
Once the Computer has rebooted, connect your scanner.
Vista Mobile Device Center should recognize and connect to the device,
providing it is
running PPC-2003, Windows Mobile5, or Windows Mobile6 Operating System.
It won't connect to Scanners running WindowsCE 3.0, PPC-2000, or PPC-2002.
Note: Microsoft ActiveSync was required for scanner
support with Windows XP.
ActiveSync does not work with Vista.
If you have a Non-Vista Operating System:
You will need to use ActiveSync 4.1 or higher.
This will connect to all Mobile OS Versions between WindowsCE 3.0 and Windows Mobile6.
